The ISS Network

ISS is a worldwide network of social welfare agencies which offers a range of professional services seeking to resolve inter-country social and legal problems affecting children, families and other vulnerable persons, wherever they are living. Each ISS unit is linked internationally with all other ISS units and nationally with the statutory authorities and other organisations providing services. Our shared commitment to families, children and individuals unites the global network.

The ISS international federation is composed of the following units:

National branches are legally independent non-profit organisations. They represent ISS in their country.

Regional branches are national branches that have a leading role in their region. They collaborate closely with ISS General Secretariat

Affiliated bureaus are bodies linked to ISS by a special agreement. Most of them are governmental.

Correspondents are organisations or individuals having an agreement with ISS with the purpose of an exchange of services.

General Secretariat has a leading role of coordination of all ISS units, based in Geneva

CFAB is the UK branch of the ISS international network and works in direct partnership with all other ISS units around the world, and nationally with all authorities and relevant practitioners. Casework referrals are thus received from the UK and from abroad, in situations where one party resides in the UK.

CFAB is unique in that it is the only organistion in the UK that links social welfare agencies around the world, thus facilitating international co-operation to resolve intercountry social work issues.
