We are also available for Bespoke Training. We can provide training courses which can be developed and delivered by CFAB (or in partnership with the requesting authority) to meet a particular regional need or identified skills gap.

CFAB FREE Training Roadshow
CFAB is launching its very own training roadshow where we will aim to visit as many Local Authorites across the UK to deliver specialist training to staff that work with children and families.
The FREE training will explore good social work practice on international cases and will help professionals to gain a wider understanding of the measures professionals can take to safeguard children across borders.

Course Description
This specialist training course is designed to enable practitioners working with children and families develop a stronger working knowledge of clients from African backgrounds and the key role that culture and religion can play in child upbringing in many African communities. It will assist participants to assess and examine some cultural and religious practices within different African communities and the impact on parenting styles and child safeguarding.
Participants will work to identify strategies to promote better safeguarding of children in their various sectors and to intervene positively in families where there are child protection concerns based on the influence of cultural practices and religion. This course will also assist in identifying key strategies to better engage families in order to safeguard vulnerable children.
Participants will benefit from a variety of training methods and materials to help stimulate learning and enrich their knowledge of key issues.
Course Objectives:
• Examine the twin issues of religion and culture, what they mean to you as practitioners and how these can influence your work with African children and their families
• Understand the significance of culture and religion in the lives of African families and the impact on parenting styles and child upbringing
• Identify strategies to better engage families in order to safeguard vulnerable children
• Gain an increased skill level and confidence in working with African children and families
Course Facilitation
Debbie Ariyo will lead a team of AFRUCA trainers to facilitate the programme. She is Founder and Executive Director of AFRUCA. AFRUCA has vast experience advising agencies across the UK on child safeguarding issues. We have worked with many practitioners dealing with African children and have facilitated many training courses for local authorities and other children’s charities and their staff on a variety of issues confronting African children and families. AFRUCA is a highly rated organisation with specialist knowledge of issues in working with African children and their families in the UK.
