Where your money goes...

CFAB spends 76.4% on DIRECT CHARITABLE EXPENDITURE, 14% of income on fundraising costs and ONLY 9.6% of income on administration costs. These costs compare very favourably with others in the charity sector.

Through the help of our supporters we are able to continue helping families and children whose desperate personal circumstances need our cross border capabilities. Below are just some of the causes your support helps:

  • CHILD ABDUCTION costs our charity approximately £2,000 per case where we seek to restore a normal situation
  • CHILD TRAFFICKING costs us approximately £1,500 per case where we seek to trace a child's family
  • OUR ADVICE LINE receives over 1500 calls per year. Our expertise is sought by the UK government, Local Authorities, the Family Division of the High Court and major NGO's such as the NSPCC and Save the Children.

By helping CFAB together we really can reunite children and families across borders.

Why do we need your help?

CFAB is the only UK charities with the expertise and support structure to help with international Social Services enquiries. Without funding we would not be able to continue to:

  • Seek family connections for children in care in the UK who have survived domestic violence;
  • Help children that are being treated as domestic servants by extended “family” members whilst in their care in the UK;
  • Ensure children have regular access to both parents, following separation/divorce;
  • Reintegrate victims of sexual exploitation back in their communities;
  • Act as a ”safety net” for those children at risk of neglect and/or abuse;
  • Provide assessments and collect references for prospective parents within the context of international adoptions.
  • Unite children with their families separated by child trafficking, abuse & drug addiction.

These are just some examples of the work that CFAB does. Our Social Workers are trained to respond to a variety of unique situations involving children and their families, utilising CFAB ’s expert international correspondents across the world.

Laleh At just 4 years old Laleh was abducted from the UK and taken to live in Iran by her father. All contact was severed with her mother. The difference came 14 years later when Laleh learnet about ISS and contacted our offices in Tehran to see if we could help her establish the wherabouts of her mother. Once againCFAB's unique global network came into play. Working effectively across different cultures and legal systems whilst handling negotiations with due sensitivity CFAB was able to secure a very successful reunion a year later. Laleh and her mother are now in permanent contact and Laleh also hopes to visit the UK next year to improve her English.

Jamel At just 11 years old Jamel came to the attention of CFAB. She was originally from Sudan and had become separated from her mother due to the appauling circumstances going on in her home country. She arrived alone in the UK and sought asylum. Living with her aunt she had exceptional leave to remain in the UK for another year. Jamel came to the attention of her Local Authority due to her poor school attendance and presentation. Her mother was seeking asylum at the time in The Netherlands and Jamel expressed the wish to be reunited with her. CFAB was able to obtain a report on the mother's current circumstances and background information to see if reunification was possible and in Jamel's best interest. The CFAB team worked tirelessly for over a year before mother and daughter were finally reunited together, during which time Jamel and her mother were in ongoing contact.

CFAB is uniquely placed with our network of branches around the world to help in these types of situations and with your help we are able to make the difference.
