Vulnerable Adults

Increased migration and shifting work patterns mean the UK is now home to many overseas nationals. Some are here by choice, some as a result of trafficking or other forms of exploitation. Whilst many people travel to the UK to escape persecution or to improve the circumstances of themselves and their families, for some life in the UK can be a difficult challenge. Those that are fleeing persecution or conflict or have been trafficked have often lost contact with family members at home. Vulnerable adults often have family support networks in their country of origin.

Role of CFAB

We can offer a number of projects to support adults, notably our unique travel assistance project.

We also offer a service to prisoners who are seeking information about, or contact with, children overseas.

CFAB is able to assist in situations where there is a dispute about where a vulnerable adult should live if one of the options is abroad. We can arrange for assessments of family and services available overseas, as well as assessments of extended families and reports on services available in the home country. We provide assistance in cases where an adult has a mental health issue and is seeking a return to their home country.

We are currently looking at launching a service to support victims of adult trafficking, and to those who are subject to domestic servitude or sexual exploitation.
